This is a quick check to run through when we update WP Rocket, or update WordPress, etc.
The goal here is to quickly click through the website and make sure it’s functioning properly. After updating WP Rocket we should be very thorough, after a WordPress update, we can be run through more quickly.
Preparation
- Make sure all caches are cleared and you’re in an incognito mode tab.
- Please confirm whether it’s using Cloudflare CDN or not, go to who.is/dns/client-domain.com to check the name servers. If it is using Cloudflare, we should have Cloudflare connected to WP Rocket (using API) so we can clear the cache from within the WP Rocket settings instead of having to log in to Cloudflare.
General
- Is navigation is functioning properly?
- Are CTA buttons clickable?
- Is phone a tel:?
- Is phone number in the tel: code correct? (hover mouse over phone and number will show in bottom left of browser)
Sections Outside Normal Templated Content
- Click through the website, try to go to important parts of the web site that might be customized out side the normal template, e.g. photo galleries, project pages, product pages.
- Is photo gallery functioning properly?
- Webforms loading?
- Projects, products or similar index pages?
Mobile
- Run through the above checks on your phone also. Please do at least one check on your phone, as sometimes it loads differently on a phone vs resizing your desktop browser window.
