If a client doesn’t have control of their GA account, we hsould be able to gain control or at least get added to their GA account. See https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/15191460?hl=en
Note, I had trouble with this process Sep 2024, kept getting error “Refresh this page and try again. Sorry, there was a problem with the form.”
- Create a simple file with the name analytics.txt and with the following text (change variables)
- GooGhywoiu9839t543j0s7543uw1 – pls add {INSERT EMAIL ADDRESS} to GA account {INSERT UA-ID} with ‘Manage Users and Edit’ permissions – date {INSERT DATE}
- {INSERT EMAIL ADDRESS} – the email you want to give “Manage Users and Edit” permissions
- {INSERT DATE} – the date you create the file
- {INSERT UA-ID} – your tracking code number. Should look like this UA-000000
- Upload analytics.txt to webroot i.e. domain.com/analytics.txt
- GooGhywoiu9839t543j0s7543uw1 – pls add {INSERT EMAIL ADDRESS} to GA account {INSERT UA-ID} with ‘Manage Users and Edit’ permissions – date {INSERT DATE}

- Send a support request and link to this file letting them know we need to gain access to this account
