SEO QA

We will be checking page by page that all content and SEO data was migrated. This should take about 45 seconds to 90 seconds per page.

For blogs we’ll just do a quick check to make sure all latest blogs and there. And for large e-commerce style sites this is not applicable, a spot check of a couple of dozen pages should be sufficient to notice any issues.

(we may use this process with SF in the future, it’s a bit clunky now https://hub.ampv.com/dev/advanced/website-migration-proces.)

Important note: Please follow these instructions when going through the check list – Site Launch Checklist Process ➝

  • Run Screaming Frog crawl and export a the HTML crawl of the current website to /Clients Folder/Technical Data/ we’ll use this to mark off URLs to keep track as we go through this specific process.
  • Have current site open in tab on left side of screen, and open redesigned site in staging in right side (if screen is too small, open each version of the site in a new window and use Command+Tab (macOS) or Control+Tab (PC) to quickly switch between each site while doing comparisons.)

The below are the things we’ll check. They should all match verbatim (unless we changed them specifically for either usability or SEO reasons).

  • Nav anchors – Make sure all nav anchors are the same
  • URL – Page URLs ideally should stay the same
  • TMH – Use AHREFS extension to easily check Title/Meta
  • Content – We just need to scan through the content. Make sure headings are there, read the first words and ending words of a a content section (we don’t have to read every word, of course).
